We had a nice surprise when I logged into our bank account yesterday – Terry’s first Social Security payment was there. We didn’t expect it until the end of the month, but we’re sure not complaining.
I’m not sure what she plans to do with her newfound wealth. Maybe a couple of trips to the drive-through window at McDonald’s, or she may blow the whole bundle at once and take me to Golden Corral for the Senior Citizen’s Early Bird Dinner.
Yesterday we stayed home and Terry worked on editing my new book, while I wrote a short article on RV Bus Conversions for John Huggins’ Living The RV Dream website. If you haven’t checked it yet, John has been busy the last couple of months adding a tremendous amount of information to his website that every RVer can use.
It’s been several years since we sold our MCI bus conversion and people are always asking me if we miss it. There are some things we definitely do miss, including the beautiful cabinets Terry built, the Avanti stove, and the huge basement storage bays. But we don’t miss the lack of power or the overheating problems it was plagued with as the old Detroit diesel engine got older.
If we were going to build another bus conversion today, we’d go for a newer 102 inch wide coach with a more modern Series 60 four stroke engine. It’s getting harder and harder to find good mechanics who know how to work on the old two stroke engines. But it was a heck of an adventure, and you can read about our bus conversion project at this link. Someday I should write an e-book on converting a bus. Yeah, like I have time for that, right?
